Photos: The Growlers @ Union Transfer (Philly)
Seeing The Growlers live again felt like stepping right back into a different era of indie rock.
The band is officially back on tour in 2026, and Union Transfer felt like the perfect room for it - sweaty, loud, packed, and completely locked in from the start. Brooks Nielsen and the band ripped through a stacked 22-song setlist that pulled heavily from Chinese Fountain, Hung at Heart, and City Club, including tracks like “Nosebleed Sun,” “Sea Lion Goth Blues,” “One Million Lovers,” “City Club,” and “Going Gets Tough.”
What stood out most was how fun the show felt. Loose in the best way possible, but still tight musically. The crowd knew every word, the band sounded great, and the whole night had that slightly chaotic Growlers energy that people have missed for years.
For us, it was also a good reminder of why we've been wanting to get back into shooting live music more again in the first place.
